Service Innovation Fund arranged by Access to Information (A2I) Program under Prime Minister’s Office awarded to YPSA for ‘production of multimedia digital talking book’. Mr. Vashkar Bhattacharjee, Program Manager, YPSA received the award on behalf of YPSA in a ceremony held at Bangabandhu International Conference Center, Dhaka on 25 September 2013.
Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina and Vashkar Bhattcharia of YPSA are talking about the Digital Accessible Information System. Vaskar is explaining how a visually impaired person can access to the computer and internet using specific software. The program was organized by Access to Information (A2I) program under the prime minister office, Dhaka.
YPSA and Actionaid Bangladesh jointly organized a workshop on “ ICT and Accessibility For The People With Disability” in the festival of South Asia Social Forum (SASF), the program held on 19 November, Dhaka University Premises, Bangladesh. Plenary session was moderated by Mr. Bazlur Rahman, Executive Director , Bangladesh National Network of Radio & Communicetion. Mr,Vashkar Bhattacharjee, Focal person, Daisy in Bangladesh was the keynote speaker. The seminar was participated by different group of people and different Organization working with the people with Disability. The speakers gave importance to inclusion of the people with disability in the mainstreaming ICT for Development Activities.
Seminar titled “Disability Friendly Information and Communication Technology: Bangladesh perspective” was organized by a non-governmental organization Jatiya Trinamul Protibondhi Sangstha in association with Disability Rights Fund on November 13 at Bangladesh Computer Council Building conference room, Dhaka. Mr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Additional Secretary of Bangladesh Govt. and Executive Director of BCC was present as chief guest at the seminar. Mr. Vashkar Bhattacharjee, Program Officer of YPSA presented the key-note in the seminar.
YPSA attended the International DAISY Technical Conference for capacity building in developing countries for making information accessible to all including persons with print disabilities was organized & hosted by Saksham for the DAISY Forum of India. 45 Resource persons and delegates from outside India and 130 Resource persons and delegates from different parts of India attended the conference. Mr. Vashkar Bhattacharjee, Program Officer of YPSA and Focal Person of DAISY Consortium Bangladesh attended the conference during October 28-29, 2010 in New Delhi, India.
YPSA received National e-Content and ICT4D champion Award 2010 for DAISY (Digital Accessible Information System) for all in Social Inclusion and participation categories. The program was organized by D.Net in association with Ministry of Science and ICT, Government of Peoples’ Republic of Bangladesh at National Museum on 9th August 2010. Honorable Finance Minister Mr. Abul Maal Abdul Muhith was the Chief Guest while Honorable State Minister for Science and ICT Architect Yeafesh Osman was the Special Guest on the occasion. On behalf of YPSA Mr. Vashkar Vhattacharjee, Senior Program Officer and Focal person of DAISY Bangladesh have received the champion Award 2010 for DAISY
Vashkar Bhattacharjee, YPSA official joint the workshop in Meherpur to finalize the draft Law for the Persons with Disabilities during 19-20 February. The NFOWD and Parliamentarians’ Caucus on Disability joinly organized the two-day workshop. Part of the execution procedure of the election manifesto of present government, the law making process is continuing in accordance with UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. In this regard, the NFOWD together with the organizations those are working with and for the persons with disabilities nation wide have been organizing meeting and seminars for finalizing the draft law.
Mr. Vashkar, Chief of YPSA’s ICT and Resource Centre on Disabilities (IRCD) Participated “World Congress on ICT for Development 2009” held in Beijing, China during 10-12 September 2009. Mr.Vashkar is the part of Bangladesh delegation lead by Mr. Hasanul Haque Inu MP and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Post and Telecommunication Ministry. Mr. Vashkar presented paper on “Information Accessibility for Persons with Print Disabilities” in the congress.
