Despite of his aged he still continued passion to teach not only here but other institutions. He is also very interested teacher because he taught us not only sign language lesson but also the history. Me and Yi-shan enjoyed his whole class.

This is her first day as a teacher for us. She reminds me of my teacher back in High School day.

The lesson today was bit hard because of new lesson and I was not prepared study last night. Somehow I was able to answer the simple and easy question. It`s really fun learning new lesson today, new language especially the sentence structures.

As usual I ate lunch inside my room and went back to the classroom for sign language class.

午後4時、戸山図書館へ行きました。I registered for ID library so I can borrow the Japanese Sign Language books for my study purposes. Then finally I got 2 books. This was my first time to visit such a huge public library and it reminds me in University library where I loved to read and study during my break time. I was hoping that there is an English version books so I can read the history and other interested books but there were few. Maybe I have to master the Japanese so I can read. I loved how the Japanese people regardless of ages are book lovers. There were several times I saw the kids age maybe 3 to 5 years old, young and adult alike and elders visit this place and its always full. The process of ID was fast it takes only 30 minutes. So I went out to meet my friends Kazuhiro-san in Wakamatsu-Kawada Station to visit the Deaf Chef who just open new Noodles shop in Nishi-Nippori last Saturday. We took Metro train going to Ueno-Okachimachi and then ride JR for Nishi-Nippori Station. Arrived at destination, we walked for 15 minutes from station and there, we met the Deaf Chef. I forgot his name and all I remembered was his Japanese sign language name and he was famous wrestler here and abroad Deaf community. Menya-Yoshi was the name of his new Noodles Shop. We had short conversation about his business. His mother was also one of his staff and she does know how to communicate with us. She reminds me of my mother. He said they are using traditional cooking pot-a very big pot and cooked pork for 6 hours before consume because this is what the law required for health sanitation. We ordered 2 ramen one for me and one for Kahuziro-san. After dinner we took some picture with them and went back to Ueno-Okachimachi Station. From there, Mr. Kazuhiro guided me to the Market where some products are cheaper and then we walked toward Ueno Station. He started to share me about this place, he said Ueno Station is the oldest terminal or railway in Japan. And he also said where all the railway coming from different cities or towns are passed through here. I took some photo mini statutes and the railway.

Then we took metro train headed to Higashi-Shinjuku. At the destination, we bid goodbye each other. Then I walk myself going to hotel. As I walked along the Okubori-Dori Street I find it serenity and beautiful night scenery. At 10 pm I arrived here in hotel and review some lessons before I sleep.

September 28:

Today Morning I woke up at 8:30 AM and went to canteen for the breakfast. As usual I greet some staffs ohayo gozaimasu . We ate together with Ramesh, Kevash and Sankha. After breakfast, I went back to the room to change my clothes and ready for whole day class. In the morning class we taught how to make a sentence using と、いきます、きます、かえります。In the afternoon class we taught a basic Japanese Sign Language.

At 5:00 PM with Mr. Murakami and Ms. Kawami accompanied us to go to Shinjuku City Gym Center for our swimming lesson. At Gym Center, we meet 2 ladies our swimmer instructors. We introduced each other but I forgot their names. We were instructed what to do before go inside the pool. We were given the coins for shoes locker and the locker. I assisted Ramesh and Sankha to go inside the Men Room for ready to change a swimwear then took a shower and pool. We started to warm-up exercises. I never seen like this place a very huge sports center and facilities for the public. No wonder they are one of the powerhouse in world sports. Among 6 Duskin Trainee I am only one know how to swim. So I helped assist the trainers after 4 rounds swim.

During the session, I learned from the trainers on how they train us especially the blind and persons with CB. For I have plan also to be like them as trainer in my city because our rehabilitation center had plan to build the hydro therapy pool for Children with Disabilities. After the session we went to Don Quijote to buy some groceries for each one of us. Then we went back toward our hotel. Now, We are grateful to Mr. Murakami for joining us even though he was supposed on leave today.

September 29:

I woke up early at 6 am I took short walking in the stairs for exercises. At 7:30 I ate breakfast and ready for the class at 9:30 AM. At the Japanese Class Sato San taught us grammar/sentence using the verb – past tense and present tense. I had learned few sentence because I did not memorize all but I will study later night. In the afternoon class, Ooshimi San taught us the basic signing alphabet, numbers and Days. Before the class dismissed we were informed Nasu-San about training next month in Ooita and we were excited about this. This will be our first time to attend seminar here in Japan and I cannot wait for this opportunity. I am going to study hard in Japanese language and Sign language so I can understand the workshop and communicate. My fellow Duskin trainee informed me that they will go to Nagoya City (for the Marathon I guess) this coming weekend. How I wish I will go with them. I heard Nagoya is also nice place. After the class, I took a short walk in Toyama Park and enjoyed the sightseeing. At night I went to the communal bath and then hot spring tub.

September 30:

Today is the last day of our breakfast buffet. Most of the meals they served everyday was delicious especially the rice, meatballs, eggs, green salad and misu. We ate together with Yi-shan and Keshav. After breakfast we went to the Japanese Class whole day. In Japanese class, we had activity like question and answer. Now I am familiar with the sentence structure. In Japanese sign language class, Yanaga-san taught us the Sign language from the morning class lesson. The grammar and signing is different. The latter was short and it`s easy. I guess I gain little knowledge the Japanese. This week of classes is the most challenging. Finally, tomorrow is weekend time and it`s time for us to have rest day. After dinner, I prepared the weekly report, I had hard time to think about what to do to write in Japanese for my report. After 3 hours making report and will continue tomorrow. So I watched the Japanese movie titled Azumi it`s about samurai on youtube.

October 1:

I woke up around 8:30 AM and went down to cafeteria to buy meals. I missed the delicious breakfast buffet though. After the meal, I went up to the laundry room to wash my dirty clothes and back to the room to cleaning. After doing chores, time to rest and watch the TV. I saw the TV Show about news current reporting by the Deaf. I had been watched every night at 8:40 in channel 2 where there are two Deaf news reporting. After lunch break I took nap for 1 hour and then study and review previous lessons. At 4:00PM I went out to visit Yanaga-san Café shop in Kazuga. I took the Metro Train in Wakamatsuo-Kawada Station going to Kazuga Station. At his Café shop, Yanaga-san was interviewed by NHK Broadcasting and so I was lucky to see them. After his interview, we had long conversation. One of topic we discuss was how did he established his 2 businesses. I was inspired and praised his hardworking. Hoping that one day I will make a long term project proposal plan – Canteen in City Hall for our Deaf organization livelihood and self-sustainability - our members have good cooking skills. After long conversation, at around 8:00 PM, I went to Tokyo Dome to see the new place. It`s beautiful place and plan to come back soon. Then I went back to hotel at around 10 PM by Metro train.

October 2:

I woke up at 8 AM. I just received the text message from Kazuhiro that he wanted to join with us to attend the Sunday Mass in St. Ignatius Church. I prepared for the breakfast and I went to the Yishan Room to asked if she wanted to join with us but she changed her mind and wanted have more rest. I met Kazuhiro san and we went out to ride Metro train in Wakamatsuo-Kawada Station for Yotsuya Station via Iidabashi Station. At the St. Ignatius Church, we met 5 Deafs and the interpreters and we were about to hear the Sunday Mass. After the mass, we went to cafeteria for Lunch and we had long conversation. I enjoyed a lot here and I meet some fellow Filipino who sell the foods. At 12:30 PM, we ride the bus going back to hotel for I have interview schedule from Japan Institute for Sign Language Studies at 1 PM. At interview, they were 5 persons and they introduced to us about their works, organization and purposes. Yishan was invited. After the introduction and orientation, I accept their offer about they want to know our local sign languages like family, names, places fruits and time. Then we had long conversation about our cultures, my works and my plans for Duskin Training Program. It was good opportunity for me to meet them because I had learned a lot from them about their works for the Deaf especially the access to accessibility. One guy from Kyoto offered me to visit their City to meet the Deaf and famous historical landmarks because I mentioned during the interview that one of the city that I want to visit in Japan was Kyoto. He offered us to stay his house for free. We were looking forward to visit soon. At the end of interview, I was received the token of appreciation and in return I gave them a Filipino flag keychain and we took group picture. What a beautiful weekend!
