Lilly’s phone battery is too low so she is unable to reply to my texts. I watched out for her pink hair and saw her. We got on the Airport Shuttle to the hotel.

I learned a great deal from the explanations provided by each director about how they manage the organizations they lead, how they collaborate with their business partners, and how people with disabilities are supported within their programs.

The visit to Hand Make particularly caught my attention. It reminded me of many Deaf individuals back home who are unable to fully realize their hidden potential due to various social, economic, and structural barriers.

This experience has broadened my knowledge and deepened my understanding of the proper processes required to develop and submit proposals to provincial and district governments in order to seek financial assistance. Such support is essential for establishing sustainable programs that empower people with disabilities, promote inclusion, and create opportunities for them to participate meaningfully in society.

Despite the language barriers, Japan continues to amaze me in ways words cannot express. I am forever grateful for all the opportunities.

I told Lily San that I wanted to challenge myself to get to Deaf Kids’ Centre alone by bus. I got on the wrong bus and end up somewhere in Kagoshima City, I video called Lily San and she hand her phone to Rie San, she told me to wait at the same spot. She drove over to pick me up.

ろうの こどもと せんせいと　平川動物園へ　行って、どうぶつ を みました。

It was my first time to see animals like elephants, tigers, lions, zebras and many others not existed in Papua New Guinea. I realized how important it is to take Deaf children to parks and zoos because it helps improve their communication and social skills.

リリーさんと　りえさんと　手話つうやくと　クルマで　市立病院へ　行きました。

We talked with an interpreter who works at the hospital about interpretation services at the hospital.

１２時３０分　リリーさんと　りえさんと　手話つうやくと　クルマで 水族館へ　行って、料金 2000円 を はらいました。

手話通訳の仕事を 観察して、通訳の先生 に お会いし、通訳サービスについて お話を しました。たくさん質問して、いろいろ学びました。

１５時半に　ホテルへ　帰りました。

へやで　すこし　休みました。

１８時から　２０時まで　夜の手話講座を見学しました

指宿の砂むし温泉を体験しました。

わたしも しぜんの せんとうに はいりました。

It feels incredibly refreshing to escape the busy, rushing life of Tokyo and have a calm weekend mood in the peaceful countryside of Kagoshima, where nature, silence, and simplicity remind me to slow down and breathe.

２時半に　ホテルへ　帰りました。

鹿児島県聴覚障害者協会青年部の定期総会に参加しました。

The annual report presentation particularly caught my attention and strengthened my determination to bring meaningful change within the disability sector back home if the opportunity arises. Over the past seven years of advocating for disability inclusion and attending numerous conferences and meetings, I have rarely seen representatives from the Papua New Guinea Deaf Association or even the national advocacy body for persons with disabilities actively present their annual reports. This experience highlighted the importance of transparency, accountability, and effective communication within organizations. Another important lesson I learned is that they have a dedicated Communication and Information Committee that ensures information is accessible, organized, and readily available to members on their social media platform.

Lily San and I have the chance to meet and have a short chat with Kagoshima Deaf Association President.
